Re-Membering Lent 2009: “that you might have life…” John 10:10

Dear Pastors and all other interested persons,

Enclosed please find a schedule for the upcoming Re-Membering program for Lent 2009. The first part starting Feb 21-22 weekend is the Evangelization period. And we plead with you to give us as much help as possible to get the word out through your parish. Examples are Homilies, Announcements, Posters and referrals. We again will place posters and ‘Give-a-Name’ slips in each parish with your permission.

This year we have permission to be apart of Liturgies at St. Michaels and St. Boniface on weekend Feb. 21-22 and St. Joseph on Feb/Mar. 28-1. It is our goal to raise awareness of the plight of 30-50% of people who call themselves Catholic…that they are not practicing their faith for many varied reasons. And that it is our duty to pray for them and invite them to Return in some manner. Re-membering is there to help this return.

The second part of the schedule is the actual ‘Credo’ program where we work directly with any potential returnees. This starts on the evening of Mar. 15th. The newest twist in this years outreach is that Immaculate Conception is site host. This will make Re-Membering more of a city wide effort. In future years we would like to use other sites as well. We will again work with and make every pastor aware of any people who want to return to his parish. Our goal is to listen to each persons story and help them overcome any obstacles to practicing their Catholic Faith especially attending Sunday Mass and receiving the Sacraments. We can cover all aspects of this program but one. And that is the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It has been a part of our belief in the program for 15 years, that holding it on Palm Sunday evening for only those who can return makes is very special time and experience of God’s Love for them. So we are seeking 2 priests to be apart of our team that evening. We have our feelers out to a number of ‘Retired’ priests etc. because we would like to retain this very important step as planned.

We thank you for your support and cooperation of the efforts of the Re-membering community. We would like to see our numbers grow. So if you have anyone from your parish who would like to help us out, please give us their name so we can invite them to be apart of this
Outreach to the in-active. If you have any questions feel free to call.

Yours Truly,

Dn Fred Karpuk
Dn Dick Billings
Dn. Larry Siztman
